Well, for one thing to follow Jesus' example.
Well, for one thing to follow Jesus' example.
He was baptized in the Jordon river at the very start of His earthly ministry.
Then He commanded His followers to make disciples & baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, & the Holy Spirit.
(Matthews gospel chapter 28)
And, being baptized is a public declaration
"I'm a follower of Jesus Christ!"
The word "Baptism" literally means "to immerse or dip under water",
and every person baptized in the Bible, including Jesus himself, was baptized by going down under the water.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord & Saviour,
can I encourage you to take this next step & be baptized yourself!

Why should we be baptized?
1. To follow Christ’s example.” In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordon." (river) Mark 1:9
2. To follow Christ’s command. Jesus said: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20
3. To publicly show you are a Christian. "And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized." Acts 18:8
What is baptism?
1. It’s a symbol of Christ's burial and resurrection. "Christ died for our sins... he was buried... and he rose again. 1 Corinthians 15: 3, 4 "For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ." Colossians 2:12
2. Baptism is a symbol of your new life. "When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!" 2 Corinthians 5:17 "By our baptism then we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead we also might live a new life!" Romans 6:4
Baptism doesn’t make you a Christian, it shows that you already are one!
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith... it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8, 9
How should I be baptised?
1. Like Jesus was baptized - by being immersed in water. "As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water." Matthew 3:16
2. Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion under water. (example) "...then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water ... " Acts 8:38, 39

4. It’s the best way to picture a burial and resurrection.
Who should be baptized?
Everyone who has made the decision to believe in Christ.
"Those who received his word were baptized." Acts 2:41
"But when they believed Philip as he preached the Good News... and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women." Acts 8:12
The only requirement for baptism is faith in Jesus Christ as Lord!
Do you believe in God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit?
Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord & Saviour?
Do you renounce the works of Satan in your life? Then there’s nothing stopping you being baptized!
